You don't want to have to stop and then search the woods for your Forerunner. It feels so much more secure. It uses tension on the watch strap pins to hold the watch to the mount.
I'm glad it didn't come off on a run because going back uphill and looking for it would have been awful.Now I use a Polar watch mount on my bike and leave the Garmin on its original watch strap. I've had it come off the mount once in a mountain bike crash but it was still looped around the handlebars so it didn't get anywhere. It's easy to get on and off, and doesn't come off unless I undo the strap.
I bought the kit, but the watch doesn't stay that well connected to the bike mount or the wrist mount. I took it skiing also with the velcro wrist band and the unit came off the watch mount when I was just tapping my poles on the snow. The Polar mount is less expensive also.
It's a nice idea, but when mounted on my mountain bike, it popped off with even just a little jarring. It's not that easy to find.
The change to the new band and bike mount is easy too. The newer velcro wrist band is also more comfortable for running than the regular one. I highly recommend it. This is a must buy for the avid biker and runner. Being able to transition between my bike mount and wrist has been great.
I can change it back and forth easily. The Quick Release accessory works great on my bicycle handle as well as my wrist.
(They do include a couple extra holding rods with this kit) you need to pull back the thumb / finger tab fairly hard in order not to break the Forerunner holding rods. The extra benefit of the Velcro wrist strap in this kit is that it keeps the sweat away from the contacts on the back of the Garmin Forerunner.Also, switching back and forth between the bike mount and the wrist band mount is fairly easy. HOWEVER.
Now I have a mount on each bike, so I'm good to go. This kit is the hot setup for full use of your 305. I like it so much I bought several more bike kits (from Garmin, which believe it or not were cheaper than Amazon).
